Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an academic extracurricular activity that simulates the working of the United Nations, its sub-organs, and related bodies. Participants step into the shoes of international diplomats and promote solutions on pressing issues conferences hosted by universities across the world. Such a conference aims to teach the day-to-day workings of international bodies and to allow participants to act in the strategic interest of the respective country that is assigned to them. The debate agendas vary from an array of topics, such as promoting international security, combating climate change, or strategizing toward economic cooperation. Each session ends with the final construction of a comprehensive solution to solve the subject at dispute. This is ultimately done through negotiation and finding a consensus with one another – similar to the United Nations.
